Help & FAQ

Everything from claiming a link to fixing a card that looks wrong on a phone. If something here is out of date, the control room wins.

Getting started

One account is one link: yourcustomprofile.app/yourname. Sign up, pick a username, and the studio opens with a working card. Nothing is published until you press Save profile.

Is it free?

Yes. There are no paid tiers and no feature held behind a wall.

Can I change my username?

Not after signup — the link is the identity, and changing it would break every link people have already shared. You can change your display name, avatar and everything else as often as you like.

Can I use my own domain?

No. Every profile lives under this domain so the leaderboard, the card image and the share previews keep working.

The studio

The editor is split into sections down the left: identity, template, card, portrait, look, background, effects, music, socials, links, widgets, badges, presets, settings and data.

Drafts and saving

Your edits live in this browser as a draft, so you can close the tab and come back. A banner appears when the draft differs from what is saved. Pressing Save profile publishes it.

Reordering

Socials, links and badges can be dragged by the grip handle on the left of each row. On a phone, press and hold the grip, then move; the page will not scroll while you are dragging.

Presets

A preset stores the whole look — colours, frame, motion, text effects — so you can switch between saved designs. Presets travel with your profile across devices.

Import and export

Export JSON downloads a copy of your profile. Import JSON restores one. Import replaces the current draft, not the live profile, until you save.

Music

Upload an MP3, WAV, OGG, M4A, AAC or FLAC file, or use one of the built-in presets. The player takes ten shapes: dock, vinyl record, cassette, waveform, orb, deck, speaker, chip, dot or ticker. Each one accepts twelve skins.

Why does the music not start on its own?

Browsers block audio until the visitor interacts with the page. Your click to enter gate is that interaction, which is why autoplay works when the gate is on. Without a gate, the first tap on the player starts it.

The volume slider

You choose a default level; a visitor's own adjustment wins for their session. If you would rather not show the slider, switch it off in the music section.

Music keeps stopping

Playback pauses when the tab goes to the background, by design. It resumes when the tab is visible again if it was playing on its own.

Effects on slow hardware

Cards can carry particles, animated backgrounds, text effects, a custom cursor and audio-reactive motion. On a weak machine all of that costs frames, so the site adapts instead of switching off.

If a profile feels heavy, the fastest fix is the visitor's own motion switch on the profile page, not a change to the member's design.

People and messaging

Messaging

Signed-in members can message each other from the button on a profile. Messages arrive as a popup and stay in your inbox at /notifications. You can reply from there without opening the profile.

Likes

One like per visitor per profile per day, and you can take it back. Some accounts have a custom daily allowance set by an admin.

Reporting

The report button sits below the other actions on a profile. Reports go to the control room with the profile and a reason; the member is not told who reported them.

Badges

Some badges can be picked by the member. The reserved ones — verified, admin, founder — can only be granted or removed by an admin, and reappear if you remove them yourself.

Visibility and search

Three settings, in the studio under settings:

Each of these is independent of the view counter: hiding the view count does not hide the profile.

Analytics are aggregated in a local database. Visitors are counted with a salted daily hash of the request, never with a stored IP address, and the raw address is not kept after the day rolls over.

See the privacy notice for the detail.

Common fixes

My changes are not showing on the live profile

Press Save profile. Drafts are local to the browser, and an unsaved draft never reaches the live page.

The card looks wrong on my phone

Wide cards scroll horizontally by design when a member has chosen a fixed pixel width. Rotate to landscape, or ask the member to use a fluid width. Layout bugs are worth a report.

My uploaded image was rejected

The server checks the actual bytes, not the filename. A file renamed to .png that is really something else is refused. Re-export it from an image editor as PNG, JPG, WEBP, GIF or AVIF.

I cannot sign in

Passwords are case-sensitive. If the account was banned you will see a plain rejection with no detail; contact an admin through any other channel. If you have lost the password there is no reset email — an admin can set a new one.

The gate does not open when I click

A profile with the iris or wipe entrance clips its own hit area while the animation runs. Clicking anywhere on the cover now works. If it still refuses, the page script did not load — check that JavaScript is enabled.

An effect I use disappeared

An admin can switch a whole feature off site-wide for a while. Your settings are kept exactly as you left them and come back the moment it is switched on again.

Can I delete my account?

Yes — studio, data & account, at the bottom. It asks for your password and your username before anything is removed. Deletion is permanent.

What shipped

Five recent changes, newest first. Dates are the day they went live.

Changelog
  1. Custom layout: put the portrait in its own pane on either side, reorder the identity, set the link columns and the gaps — then drag the pane edge directly on the preview, with the width snapping to thirds and back to the silhouette's own measure.
  2. Text effects reach the title and the bio, not just the name. 63 effects, all three targets, and none of them move the text around.
  3. Frame and art pickers show the real effect instead of a drawing of it, so 74 frames and 47 scenes are distinguishable before you apply one.
  4. Paste a Linktree, Beacons or Carrd link list and it imports in one step — recognised brands land in icon slots, the rest become link buttons, and anything skipped is listed before you commit.
  5. Email verification, Google sign-in, two-factor with recovery codes, and a real password reset path. Unverified pages stay out of search, the directory and the sitemap.
